Las Vegas Mayor's Cup Tournament
Anna's team won the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup this weekend. I didn't get to see the finals because I had to fly home before the championship game. They won all of their games: 3-0, 1-0, 2-0 and 2-0! Great job 96 Girls Gold! We are so proud of you.
Kayla's team also played in the Mayor's Cup. They played great against some really hard competition and came home with a win, a tie and a loss. Great job girls!

Thirty One Gifts
My sister and I took the girls and Griffey to the AZ Children's Expo a few weeks ago. While we were there we ate some really expensive hot dogs, rolled around in a hamster ball, slung ourselves in the air on giant rubber bands, got a massage from a hot doctor AND found the cutest company called Thirty One Gifts. Thirty-One Gifts is a Christian company that sells cute bags, totes and organizers. They derived their name from Proverbs 31. After talking to the representative for awhile, Amy decided that she wanted to try her hand at selling. I was tempted to jump on the band wagon, but only for about half a second. Then I remembered Lia Sophia and my complete and utter failure there. I am just NOT a salesperson! I can't believe people actually make money with these home businesses. I couldn't sell a bottle of water to a thirsty man in the desert! Besides, I hate asking people to buy stuff especially with the economy the way it is right now. I did promise Amy that I would host a party for her so I sent out fb messages to about 75 people who live in the area...Only 6 said yes (2 of those were me and Amy), 11 said maybe, 15 flat out said no and the rest....well I never heard back from the rest. Does that mean I am a loser? Probably...either that or people just really hate going to these type of things. Anyway...the party is tomorrow night so we will see how it goes. I hope Amy can make a little money and that I can earn a few free things. I am so not a purse girl, but their stuff is really cute. Check out their site at

What's In a Name
I thought I was being "out of the box" when I named my children. Nothing too trendy or too popular. I was wrong. Anna seems to be a popular name out here and Kayla, or some version of it....Kaitlyn,Kaylee...Kylee, is very trendy. When Anna joined her new team last year there was already an Anna G. Then when Kayla joined her new team they already had a Kayla. The coaches asked the girls if they had a nickname so it would be less confusing. I thought they could call Anna, Anna Lee, but she wouldn't hear of that. She told her coach to call her Bob. Bob? Really? That's better than Anna Lee? Kayla's should have been easy. She has a lot of nicknames. I call her Nick (her middle name is Nicole), Ryan calls her KK, Amy calls her Kee Kee....but did the child use any of those? Nope! She told her coach she wanted to be called Milton. My children are weird! The crazy part of the whole thing is that Bob was my paternal grandfather's name and Milton was Ryan's paternal grandpa. The girls had no idea. Well...to make a long blog short, Anna is just called Anna or Anna Goebel. Seems to work and hasn't caused any confusion on the field. Kayla is now called Ini. When her coach asked who her favorite soccer player was she said Andres Iniesta. So it got shortened to Ini and stuck.

Soccer Parents
Why is it that life gets so busy that you don't always have time to do the things you enjoy doing? I thought I was back in the saddle, but apparently fell off again. I am going to try to do much better about keeping up with this blog. It's not like our lives aren't entertaining. Between the girls and Ryan I have plenty to write about. Here is one of the more recent things the Goebels have said or done that I find blog worthy!
Ryan- My wonderful husband got himself kicked out of his very first soccer game this weekend. If you've ever been involved in youth sports you know it can be pretty intense...both on the field and on the sidelines. Ryan and I really try not to be "those parents", but it's hard not to get caught up in it all. Anna's team is currently trying to defend their title as state league champs and most of the teams they play are out for blood, literally! Yesterday's game got a little out of hand. (I had to miss the game so this is all second hand information.) Ryan said he didn't say anything when Anna got a yellow card after a girl slammed into her, but when CC got hit in the head and laid out flat on the ground he just couldn't stop himself. Here is what he said in his own words..."Ref...you've got to get this game under control or someone is going to get hurt!!" The ref turned to him and told him to get out. When another dad tried to back Ryan up he kicked him out of the game too. Oh boy! Ryan sat in the parking lot the whole 2nd half of the game. The girls ended up tying 2-2.
