Animal Look Alike

Kayla is obsessed with finding out what animal she looks like. She jumped on me as soon as I got home today. Following is our very weird conversation.

K: Mom, mom....what kind of animal do I look like?

ME: I don't know Kayla. You don't look like an animal.

K: But if I was an animal what kind of animal would I be?

ME: I don't think you look like any animal.

K: Everyone looks like an animal. At school we were talking about it. Marisa looks like a deer because she has a small head, Drea looks like a chipmunk,Hannah looks like a sloth or a chihuahua and my sports medicine teacher looks like a tarantula. (She showed me a picture of her sports medicine teacher and I admit she does resemble a tarantula.)
I've been trying to figure out what I look like. One kid said I look like a muskrat. I'm not sure what they look like but I'm pretty sure they are not cute!

ME: Duh...they have rat in their name.

K: So...I took a quiz online called "What animal do you look like?"

ME: What did you get?

K: I got a Polar Bear

ME: I don't see it.

KK spent the next 40 minutes online looking for an animal that "looks" like her. She finally came up with a Quokka, a marsupial native to a small corner of southwestern Australia. It's also know as the happiest animal on earth. Definitely not Kayla...she is a grouch!

I dunno....What do you think?

HOT BOX

Saw this in downtown Phoenix today.... Everything is wrong with this picture! It's a storage unit, on the side of the road, with two creepy men sitting outside....that says Hot Box Open Come On In!

Uh...no thanks!

Explosive Pants

Standing in the security line at the airport, I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that I'd worn the wrong pants. I'd made that mistake once before and knew the consequences. Note to self: NEVER EVER wear pants with metal detail on the pockets because they WILL set off the metal detectors. I had 45 minutes (it was a long line) to resign myself to the fact that I was most definitely going to get a pat down. As part of the pat down process they swab your hands. Immediately a little alarm started going off and on the computer screen in big bold red letters EXPLOSIVES DETECTED. Explosives? What the heck? I can't even cook so how the heck am I going to build a bomb?!

The TSA agent started yelling and 2 more TSA agents came over. They grabbed my belongings off the conveyor belt and rushed me over to another part of the security area. After they searched everything in my bag they ushered me into a little room where I got what pretty much amounted to a strip search. Long story short, I was finally cleared and made it in plenty of time for my flight.

NOTE: I'd like to mention that all of the TSA agents involved in this incident were awesome and were just doing their jobs. I'd also like to mention that we suspect that it was the Oil of Olay hydrating lotion I used that morning which set off the alert. Apparently it contains an ingredient that can also be used in making explosives. Who knew?!

Picky Picky

I went to Panda this weekend with the old people. After eating, Grammy picked up a toothpick off GT's tray and asked him if he used it. He said no so she put it in her mouth. THEN... after it was already in her mouth... GT informed her that it wasn't his toothpick. That is was on the table when he sat down. Grammy went pale and asked why he hadn't told her that when she asked. GT calmly replied that she hadn't asked if it was his, she'd asked if he'd used it!

SERIOUSLY THE FUNNIEST THING EVER!!!!

Back In The Saddle

Wow! It's been a really long time since my last post. I said this blog was about our lives in Arizona the good, the bad and the incredibly busy....well, we've had all off that these past 2 years. Good moments and some really bad moments...but mostly just busy moments. Here is a quick update: Anna is now 18 and a senior in high school. It's been a good year for her. She just signed her letter of intent to play soccer at NAU next year. She is super excited to play Div 1 soccer in college.
She had a lot of schools talk to her but NAU was her first choice. She had a great year of HS soccer scoring 28 goals with 8 assists and making the All State First Team! She is still drawing and playing the guitar and has been leading the youth worship band at church.

Kayla is 16, a junior and a driver! Lord help us all!Kayla's club team won the state championship last May and she got to go to Hawaii in June for regionals. What an experience! She had a great year of HS soccer wining best defensive player for the second year in a row! She was awesome in defense, but actually had a chance to score 2 goals (one with an assist from her sister) and even got a save playing goalie! KK was the mouth of the HS team leading them in the pre game cheer. (I'll save that for a later post) I've been busy working 3 jobs. I'm still at the church full time, but I also do some work for my dad's non profit, Elevate Phoenix, and I contract with Capstone Publishing and myON Reader. I love working for myON and I get a chance to travel all over the country. I've really missed blogging and my goal for this year is to take a little time each week to update.
