Stuck On the Roof

My 4th grade class just finished our Junior Achievement program. JA is a program where community leaders are invited into your classroom to teach a 6 week curriculum about money, business, community, etc,. Our JA leader this year was John Vance, owner of Peoria Nissan. It's my experience that car dealers will do just about anything to sell cars. John is no exception. Today he went up on the roof of his car dealership and will not come down until they sell 150 cars. He actually has a pretty sweet setup complete with tents, porta potty, and even a swimming pool. They arranged for different local restaurants to bring him 3 meals a day and he has complete internet access. The dealership has set up a live 24 hour feed so people can tune in anytime to see how it's going. My class has the live feed up on our classroom computers so we can watch throughout the day. It is actually pretty cool. So far the weather is great, but that is supposed to change later in the week. Hope he brought a lot of sunscreen. Check it out at http://stuckontheroof.com I am trying to think how Ryan and I can do something similar to raise money for youth camp

Text Me But Don't Talk To Me

Kayla has a new friend. (A real one this time not like Tapioca.) Her friend's name is Marissa and she is on Kayla's new soccer team. Marissa's has a big sister Andrea, who is on Anna's soccer team. Andrea and Anna say that Marissa is just like Kayla only Mexican. I'm not sure the world is ready for 2 Kaylas! The girls met at soccer practice last week and have been texting each other non stop ever since. The other day Ryan counted over 257 messages between the two in ONE DAY. Glad we've got free texting! The funny thing is that the girls will text all day, but when they see each other in person they don't talk. It is the strangest thing. They've got all these inside jokes via text, but for whatever reason, they act nervous when they see each other in person. Andrea and Anna think it is the funniest thing ever! I think it is just weird! Hopefully, when we go to the Cerritos tournament next week they will work out their shyness and actually talk to each other face to face. We shall see!

Congratulations Banat 96 Gold!

Anna's team got 2nd place in the state championship this weekend. That is their highest finish ever! They are ranked as one of the top 100 teams in the nation for their age bracket! The girls worked really hard this season and we are so proud of them. Next stop Cerritos!

It's Been A Good Ride But It's Time to Get Off!

Dear Bellair,
Thank you for NINE incredible years! This has been a good place for the Goebel girls. I feel blessed that I was able to experience school with my girls and watch them grow up in a way that not a lot of people get to. We have met some amazing people here and have made many good memories that we will take with us wherever we go. It's been a good ride Bellair...but it's time to get off.

Love,

The Goebel Girls

State Championship- Go Banat Gold!

There is always that one team that for whatever reason you have trouble beating. For the Suns it's the Spurs and for Anna's soccer team...it's Sereno White. Sereno White is a great team no doubt. In fact, they have never been beaten by an AZ team, but this year...we hope to change all that. The girls played Sereno last Saturday in the final 4 and lost. They dropped down to the loser's bracket and had to play SC Del Sol on Sunday. They won that game 3-1 so now they must face Sereno White again. Only this time it's for all the marbles. The State championship. If we lose...we take 2nd in state. Not too shabby, but of course we'd rather win. In order to do that we have to beat Sereno on Saturday and then play them again on Sunday and win that game too. (It's a double elimination tourney!) It will be a tough road, but not impossible. David took down Goliath...the Suns swept the Spurs...anything is possible right?

Here are some pics of Anna from State Cup.

FINAL FOUR

Anna's soccer team won their game 4-0 against Nike Rush on Saturday. They are now in the final four. They play the best team in the state, a team that has never been beaten by an Arizona team, next weekend. I have a feeling this is our year! Go BANAT!
