15 Down

I am now down 15 pounds! Only 5 more to go to reach my goal weight! I have been working out hard and watching what I eat. I feel a lot better too, but I still don't think I will ever get used to the taste of diet soda.

The Finger

Well I got the finger on the way into work this morning. Nice way to start the day. Some crazy driver (in a min van) was weaving in and out of traffic going at least 75-80 in a 55. A school bus was in the right lane and I was in the left when he pulled up on my rear end. He was so close I couldn't even see the front of his car. I did not feel the need to speed up just to let him through (hehe) which really ticked him off and he gave me the finger. Yes, the middle one. He continued to ride my butt until I was able to pull into the right lane ahead of the school bus. Then he pulled up next to me and rode right there for the next mile or so. I just looked straight ahead and pretended I didn't even notice him. I'm not stupid and I definitely don't want to be the victim of some jerk's road rage. Finally he zoomed past me and I pulled into the church parking lot. Hope he feels good about flicking the bird at a minister on her way to work!

Making Memories

It's been a week since I last blogged....Having a hard time finding time. This past weekend we went to Cali with Anna's soccer team for a college showcase. It was a flop! The weather was icky (rainy and chilly), the fields were bad (knee high grass in some places) and not a college coach in sight. The girls didn't have a stellar performance so it's probably a good thing the college scouts weren't around. Anna got hurt 1/2 way thru game #2 and couldn't even play the rest of the weekend. Just an ankle sprain, but disappointing. At least we made some memories. The Goebel girls rode and roomed with the Ortiz girls. It was crazy fun and we laughed a lot. Drea saw a cute guy at Costco so her mom got him to take a picture with her and Cielo almost burned the hotel down making Chorizo in her room. The highlight of the weekend was watching KK play. Coach Jon asked if he could put Kayla on the roster since we were down a flew players and he actually let her play part of the 3rd game. She was a beast I tell you! Up against the tallest girl, Kayla schooled her several times and set up a corner that led to our 2nd goal! The girls on Anna's team want Kayla to stay and play on their team. Pretty sure Coach Mark will have a problem with that. Bummed that I wasted a Sunday off, but enjoyed spending time with my girls!

111

This is the year of 11. Try and see if this works for you. It did for my family.

Take the last 2 digits of your birth year (for me 71)
Add it to the age you turn this year in 2011 (40 yuck)
equals 111

Everyone should end up with 111

My daughter was 97 + 14= 111

other daugher 96 + 15= 111

hubby 73 + 38= 111

Weird huh!

Go Carts and Twitter

Ryan and the girls went to an amusement park with their friends from New Mexico last night. While waiting in line for the go karts they noticed that Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinal football player) was behind them. Larry was with his kids and actually ended up racing against them. Ryan beat Larry, but in all fairness he had his kid in the car and I'm pretty sure he didn't know Ryan was taking the race so seriously. Ryan decided to brag about his big win on Twitter. Somehow Kurt Warner saw the tweet and started giving Larry a hard time about it and it ended up being a HUGE twitter war.

Facebook Friends

A few years ago Ryan connected on FB with a girl from high school. This girl has a daughter Anna's age who plays competitive soccer in New Mexico and every once in awhile we would end up at the same tournament. A few weeks ago their team was in AZ for the President's Day tourney and the girls finally met. Since then they have been talking constantly through the wonders of modern technology (Text, FB, Skype, etc,...). Their family was going to Cali for spring break this week but ended up staying in PHX. Jordan, has a younger sister who is Kayla's age but a grade younger, so the 4 of them have been having a blast hanging out all week.

Ostrich Tournament

This weekend the girls participated in the San Tan Ostrich Tournament. Anna had a game Friday night and on the way back to the car Kayla fell in the parking lot and banged up her knee. Poor thing. She tore a nice little chunk out of it. She's a tough one though. Bandaged it up and was ready to play the next day.

Overall it wasn't a stellar weekend for the 98 girls. Several girls were sick or hurt but they sucked it up and played anyway. They ended up losing in the finals on PKs. No one likes to go out on PKs. Here is what Kayla posted on her facebook about the weekend. "So this weekend I have done nothing but get hurt. I tripped and fell while walking to the car, I got tackled, and I got kneed in the keester."

Anna's team fared much better. They ended up going to PKs in the championship game, but came out with the win!

List Yourself

I love to read and journal so when I was at the bookstore over Christmas I thought I hit the jackpot when I found this book. It is called List Yourself. It's kind of a book on self discovery through list making. I was so excited about it, but somehow when I got home from Christmas vacation the book got stuffed somewhere and I never got around to writing in it. Today is the day I guess I am getting around to it. In the book the lists are all put into categories like YOURSELF, YOUR DAILY LIFE, BUSINESS, GROWING UP, etc,...Here are a few of the lists with my answers.

Suddenly your house is on fire. List all the things you would grab.
1. Family
2. Tacky Teddy
3. family pictures
4. box of letters Ryan wrote while we were dating
5. portrait made of the girls when they were little
6. boxes of girls school papers that I have been saving
7. the safe with our important documents
8. old journals

List all of the things you would do if you weren't so afraid (in no particular order)
1. Write a book
2. travel the world
3. sky dive
4. let people in
5. Ride in a hot air balloon
6. Take a year off and go live on a desert island somewhere
7. go places by myself
8. take one of my ideas and actually do something with it
9. learn to cook
10. go back to school

Between A Rock And A Hard Place

Ryan's parents came into town this past weekend and we took them hiking on Thunderbird Mountain. While we were stopped for a water break my father in law noticed a rock that was split. He lifted off the top of the rock and to his surprise found 2 dollar bills. RANDOM! One was almost completely disentegrated and the other was stiff and just about to fall apart. How crazy that on the whole mountain he found the rock that had money in it. Ryan thinks that maybe it was part of Geocashing. Geocaching is a worldwide game of hiding and seeking treasure. A geocacher can place a geocache in the world, pinpoint its location using GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online. Anyone with a GPS unit can then try to locate the geocache. I don't know, but the bills had obviously been there a long time. My father in law put the money back under the rock just in case someone came looking for them.

Old and Boring

Lately I've been struggling to find things to write about and what I do write is blah at best....Is my life really that boring? I mean I do stuff... I do a lot of stuff....just nothing worth writing about. I guess I have to face the fact that I'm old and boring. However, I refuse to add FAT to that phrase...so that my blogging friends, is why I have been going to the gym. I've lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks! I've also been eating better which means less coke (which makes me just a teeny bit grouchy!)!!!!

This is the year that I turn the BIG 4 0 and I wanted to do something really EXCITING and special! We're 3 months in now and so far my year has been a big snooze! I really need to do something to spice things up around here. I'm just not sure what...
