Old Posts
I was reading through some old posts the other day and got laughing so hard. I had forgotten about a lot of the stuff on here. It's cool how this blog is like a diary of our lives. I decided to repost a few of the funnier ones. Slap the Cook originally "aired" in Oct. 2008. I am sorry to say that my culinary skills have not gotten any better and our lives have not gotten any less busy.
Slap the Cook
Have you ever heard the saying, "Kiss the cook"? Well forget kissing. Somebody should slap me the next time I step into the kitchen. I have no business in an apron because I seriously suck! We just finished dinner and I really wish I wouldn't have eaten my own cooking. The whole meal was very....YELLOW. The Rice A Roni was crunchy, the noodle stuff was glopey and the chicken was as dry as the desert behind our house. We have such a busy schedule that we eat out a lot so on the nights we are home, I "try" to be domestic and cook my family a nice meal. Maybe nice is too far of a stretch. Maybe I should just shoot for edible. Baby steps.....Stacy....baby steps.
She's the Stuff!
Shhhh! Don't tell Kayla she's small because I don't think she knows it. That child walks around like she's the biggest thing in the room. Nothing scares her. Not even the bully in PE who kept "bumping" her in the locker room. This girl has a reputation for being big and mean and when I say big I mean BIG! I saw her at the science fair and she scared me...didn't scare Kayla though. She stood right up to that girl and told her that she'd better watch where she was going. She hasn't bothered her since. When it came time to try out for basketball Kayla was the first one to sign up. Isn't basketball a sport usually reserved for tall people? Or at least people over 4 1/2 feet tall? Kayla must not have gotten the memo on that one. She went out there, showed her stuff and became one of the starting point guards. I am constantly amazed by my youngest. Yesterday, I showed up early to track practice and what in the world was that child doing....HURDLES! They were as big as she was, but somehow she managed to fly right over them. In her mind...there is nothing she can't do. She is truely the BIGGEST person I know and I hope she always stays that way! Dream Big Girl! You can do it!

In "Hind"sight
In "hind"sight one often finds that what may seem like good advice isn't really such good advice after all (even when it is well intended). In regards to the Pink Stuff post...inquiring minds (and rear ends) now know that the pink stuff should ONLY be used for what is clearly labeled on the bottle.

The Pink Stuff
We all know that Pepto Bismol is good for nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach and diarrhea, but hemorrhoids? According to a reliable source, it clears those babies right up. Inquiring minds (and rear ends) want to know. Does it really work? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Phone Blogging
I just figured out how to blog from my phone! Woohoooo! Since I spend a lot of time sitting around at practice this will be great. The only problem is those buttons are awfully small. May take me awhile to get anything typed.
The Blonde Girl and the Olympics
The blonde girl was watching the biathlon on tv. The Biathlon is a winter Olympic sport that combines cross country skiing and rifle shooting. The blonde girl watched intently for a few minutes then asked..."What are they shooting at? People?"
Seriously???
Yes Kayla...they are shooting at PEOPLE in the Olympics.
That girl is not right I tell you.

State League Champs!
It was Saturday afternoon. Driving rain and a muddy pitch made playing conditions less than perfect. The opponents, worthy contenders, fought hard, but the girls in yellow fought harder. They left everything on the field that day and at the end of the muddy battle they emerged victorious! Banat 96 Gold Arizona State League Champions! We are so proud of you!

Growing Up Griffey
I have a new nephew and he is the cutest thing I have ever seen! His name is Griffey and he was born yesterday, February 15, 2010 at 2:35 in the afternoon. He was 7lbs 8 oz and 21 inches long. I got to see him about 2 min. after he was born. He is so precious! We have waited a long time for little Griffey and are so excited that he is finally here!

Go Go Goebels
Basketball season is now over and after a brief break (too brief) the girls have started softball and track. Anna just found out today that she made the school's
8th grade softball team (woohoo!)and starting next week Kayla will be running for the BOLTS. I just finished entering all their games and meets into my calendar and I can honestly say...we have something every day! Mondays and Wednesdays are softball games and Tuesdays and Thursdays are track meets. On off days they have practice after school and then soccer practice after that! Whew! Are we crazy or what??? Anna and I had a conversation on the way home from soccer last night about how busy our lives have become. She put it all into perspective for me when she said, "Look on the bright side mom. We are so busy that we don't have time to get into trouble!" (Or worse yet boys I thought!) How very thankful I am for teenage daughters that are not caught up in all the drama of clothes and boys! I am sure it will come, but for now...I am enjoying the quiet busyness of our lives.

New Name
I am trying to think of a new name for this blog. Goebel 4 is kind of boring. I have been kicking around a few ideas, but so far none of them work. If anyone has any ideas I would be glad to hear them.

Big Debut
Yesterday was Anna's big debut on her new team, 96 Banat Gold. She came into the game about 15 minutes in and within 30 seconds she scored a goal! We were so excited! It was the first goal of the game. Coach John put her at forward and was blown away by her speed. The girls went on to win 2-0 and moved into 1st place in state league. It was weird seeing her wearing gold instead of black and sporting number 13 instead of 7. I never thought we would leave the Stars. We've been there since the beginning, but the level of play on the new team is so much higher than where we came from. Anna definitely has to play "catch up" in some areas, but I think she is going to fit in just fine. The girls on the team are really great and have made Anna feel right at home. It is going to be exciting to watch Anna grow and improve as she plays with this team.

Lucky Number 13
Some of the greatest athletes in the world wear the #13. Steve Nash...Kurt Warner and now Anna Goebel! Anna just recently transfered to a new soccer team. She is very excited! Not only does she get to play with her best friend CC, but the team is ranked #2 in the state! She makes her big debut on her new team, Banat 96 Gold, this weekend. It was an honor for Anna to be chosen for this team and we are very proud of her. Good luck Anna!
Cafeteria Lady
Last Friday, as we were driving Kayla to a birthday party, she suddenly announced, "I am so mad at the cafeteria lady!" Ok...RANDOM. Ryan and I asked why in the world she would be mad at the cafeteria lady? Kayla replied angrily,"I stand on my tiptoes every day so I will look taller and she still gives me the smallest piece of pizza. I'm hungry too you know. Plus I'm an athlete. I need to eat!" Trying not to laugh we told Kayla that next time she needs to tell the lunch lady that she would like a bigger piece. Kayla said she tried but the lady didn't understand her. Then she started talking really slow...." I....W o u l d...l i k e...p e p e r o n i...p l e a s e...." Confused by this, I asked Kayla if the cafeteria lady she was deaf. Kayla said that she wasn't deaf she just didn't speak English. I tried to explain that talking slower wouldn't help. She wasn't dumb to which she replied..."I know, but it will make it easier for her to read my lips." Ryan was cracking up! If she can't speak English she's not going to be able to read lips in English either. Oh poor Kayla.
UPDATE: Today Kayla got a big piece of pizza at lunch! I think it might be because I told my cafeteria lady the story who probably told Kayla's cafeteria lady. You know how those circles work...LOL!
