Last Friday, as we were driving Kayla to a birthday party, she suddenly announced, "I am so mad at the cafeteria lady!" Ok...RANDOM. Ryan and I asked why in the world she would be mad at the cafeteria lady? Kayla replied angrily,"I stand on my tiptoes every day so I will look taller and she still gives me the smallest piece of pizza. I'm hungry too you know. Plus I'm an athlete. I need to eat!" Trying not to laugh we told Kayla that next time she needs to tell the lunch lady that she would like a bigger piece. Kayla said she tried but the lady didn't understand her. Then she started talking really slow...." I....W o u l d...l i k e...p e p e r o n i...p l e a s e...." Confused by this, I asked Kayla if the cafeteria lady she was deaf. Kayla said that she wasn't deaf she just didn't speak English. I tried to explain that talking slower wouldn't help. She wasn't dumb to which she replied..."I know, but it will make it easier for her to read my lips." Ryan was cracking up! If she can't speak English she's not going to be able to read lips in English either. Oh poor Kayla.
UPDATE: Today Kayla got a big piece of pizza at lunch! I think it might be because I told my cafeteria lady the story who probably told Kayla's cafeteria lady. You know how those circles work...LOL!
